Going live on stage
Open a setlist in the stage view, hit Play, and let the chart follow the song.
Going live on stage
The stage view is what's on your phone (or tablet, or laptop) during the gig. Open a setlist, hit Play, the chart scrolls and the active lyric line highlights as the singer sings.
Open a setlist on stage
From the setlist page, hit Open on stage. The view fills your screen and the wake-lock kicks in so the device won't sleep.
Top of the screen: the persistent now/next strip — what song is up, what's next, your tempo, your sync state, your settings. It never fades.
Body of the screen: the chord chart for the current song.
Bottom: a thin status row with page count, line count, and the autoscroll badge.

The Play button
The big Play button in the top strip starts everything:
- Autoscroll begins — the chart paces from top to bottom over the song's duration.
- Lyric follow begins (if Follow mode is on, which is the default) — the active line highlights and advances with the song.
Tap it again to pause. Tap once more to resume.
If the song has LRCLib lyric timing (Loadout fetches that automatically when it can), the highlight tracks the actual timestamps. If it doesn't, the highlight advances on a BPM-derived cadence — close enough for most songs, but tap a line to snap if it drifts.
Tip: You can also hit the Spacebar (or the
Pkey) to toggle Play on a laptop. Same behavior as the button.
Navigate songs
- Swipe left / right on phone — next / previous song.
- Arrow keys on a laptop — next / previous song.
- Swipe from the left edge — open the setlist drawer to jump to a specific song.
- Tap the song title in the top strip — same drawer.
Things that bite people the first time
Heads up: If you don't see line highlighting after tapping Play, check the Settings sheet (the
⋯button top-right) → Follow the song. It should be set to Follow. If it's on Off or Tap, the play-head won't advance automatically.
Heads up: Autoscroll uses the song's duration. If a song has no duration set, it falls back to 3:30 — long for a short song, short for an epic one. Edit the song to set the real duration; the setting persists for every future gig.
Band sync
If you're the band leader and bandmates have the same setlist open on their devices, your song-changes broadcast to everyone in real time. Tap Claim leader in the top strip to take control.
See band sync for the details — leader handoff, what gets broadcast, what stays local.
What's next
You're ready for the gig. Past here, the help is reference:
- Stage view overview — the whole feature, end to end.
- Autoscroll — speed, pause, the fallback.
- Gestures — every tap, swipe, and long-press.
